MATERIALS MATTER

each ingredient is meticulously chosen based on scientific findings, clear performance metrics and minimal environmental footprint.

here's a look at the ingredient science behind the new generation of home care products.

BIO-ACTIVE FORMULAS

smart cleaning

advanced cleaning solutions engineered to clean deeper and for longer

the key ingredients that power our award winning cleaning products.

probiotics

SCIENCE

scientists in the 80's predicted that probiotics would become the future of cleaning. once sprayed on the surface, the probiotics activate and work to outcompete and tackle harmful bacteria and dirt. probiotics multiply very rapidly and penetrate deep into surfaces, even in places disinfectants would not be able to reach. competition immediately develops between the good bacteria (probiotics) and harmful bacteria.

PERFORMANCE

when applied regularly and in enough quantities, probiotics are proven to outcompete and tackle harmful bacteria (including certain superbugs).

SUSTAINABILITY

probiotics are a highly sustainable ingredient thanks to their biodegradability, low toxicity, and moisturizing effects. production is not dependent on petroleum, nor the deforestation associated with synthetic chemicals.

plant-based surfactants

SCIENCE

traditional (synthetic) surfactants are petroleum derived, and rely on fossil fuels for their production. plant-based surfactants are plant-derived soaps, with the most common sources being palm and coconut.

PERFORMANCE

in laboratory tests, numerous green surfactants synthesized from vegetable oils and other plant-based materials matched or exceeded the capabilities of conventional synthetic surfactants.

SUSTAINABILITY

plant-based surfactants replace the need for traditional fossil fuel-derived synthetic agents.

eucalyptus & lavender

SCIENCE

the natural calming side-effects of eucalyptus and lavender have been widely documented.

SUSTAINABILITY

this fragrance is 100% natural origin and 100% biodegradable.

we follow guidelines by the international fragrance regulatory association (IFRA) to ensure the safety of all our formulations.

bio-active fabric technology

smart fabrics

byMATTER and added new bio-engineered technologies to create a new generation of fabrics designed to nourish skin and hair.

here are the key ingredients that power our bio-active fabric collection.

Seacell™

SCIENCE:

Seacell™ is a patented fabric technology made from seaweed, a naturally regenerative resource. the bio-active properties of seaweed are permanently preserved within the fiber even after multiple washing cycles.

PERFORMANCE:

seaweed is rich in amino acids, minerals, vitamins and antioxidants. the bio-active properties of the fabric enable an active exchange of amino acids, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants between the fabric and the skin.

SUSTAINABILITY:

seaweed grows abundantly under the sea, meaning no fresh water, fertilisers or pesticides are used during the growth stage. production is supervised by a highly specialized team of engineers and scientists, and takes place in a closed loop process with no chemicals released as waste. Seacell™ is certified by the EU-Ecolabel and meets the requirements of OEKO-Tex 100.

BCI cotton

SCIENCE:

the cotton used within this fabric is sourced in partnership with the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI).

PERFORMANCE:

the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) exists to make global cotton production better for the people who produce it, better for the environment it grows in and better for the sector’s future.

SUSTAINABILITY:

licensed BCI Farmers grow cotton in line with the Better Cotton Principles and Criteria which guide BCI Farmers towards continuous improvement across seven key areas: decent work, crop protection, water stewardship, soil health, biodiversity, responsible land use, fiber quality and effective management systems.

Collagen fabric technology

SCIENCE:

the plant based Collagen treatment is designed to activate skin cell regeneration and enhance moisture retention.

PERFORMANCE:

our scientists produce this plant-based Collagen by coiling together three selected amino acids into a triple helix structure. the Collagen fabric technology is preserved within the fiber even after multiple washing cycles.

SUSTAINABILITY:

byMATTER uses advanced technology and processes to safely extract amino acids from fermented corn.
